The Real Reason You Have Wanderlust

For myself my wanderlust started at an early age. I grew up in the transition zone of the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Out my front door was forest that went for miles in every direction. My idea of fun was trekking through the wilderness with my dogs exploring the old gold mining trails, creeks, and ridge tops. I was always excited spotting animals. My dogs and I would see bear, deer, coyotes, bobcats, ringtail cats, raccoons, skunks, squirrels and endless birds. I was also fascinated to learn about all the edible plants and there are many. Also, as a child my parents took me and my 2 sisters to national parks almost every summer. I can remember my first visits to all the Western Parks.

My wanderlust never faded but I was out of touch with nature while I lived in the Midwest. Making a living in Chicago didn't leave much time for outdoor adventure. After 15 years away from California I arrived in Palm Springs. I never expected to live in SoCal but there's so much to explore. I've been here for 8 years and I'm still exploring, not just here around Palm Springs, but everywhere within driving distance: the Kelso Dunes, Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Mojave National Preserve and many more.

I've done Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon, the Traverse Trail in Zion, the cables on Half Dome, the desolation wilderness in Tahoe, many sections of the Pacific Crest Trail, portions of the John Muir Trail, the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne and many more. My wanderlust continues and I want to share my knowledge and experience with those who share the same passion.
