Spring in the desert Feb 2023

From a distance the desert looks very monotone, however when you look up close there are flowers everywhere. There are many small flowering plants including, miniature lupine, pygmy poppies, stork's bill, fringed redmaids, California goldfields, white fiesta flower, and many more. There are also larger flowering plants like California poppy, Parish's poppy, Arizona lupine, chia, scorpion weed, bladderpod, cupped-leaved ceanothus, Parish's goldeneye, brittlebush, and many more blooming in February. As we move toward the end of Spring the cactus will put on a show with a blaze pinks, yellow, and chartreuse. It seems there is always something blooming in the desert including the middle of summer in the hottest weather.
